EWM React: Automated welding with our most stable process

As precise as a Swiss watch

But ‘Made in Germany’. This is our new EWM React welding process. It combines all the advantages of an energy-reduced, digitally controlled short arc with dynamic wire movement, thus ensuring maximum process stability. The necessary power for the individual components comes from our most powerful power source for automated welding: the Titan XQ R with integrated RCC (Rapid Current Control) module, which allows for precise interventions. The unique feature of EWM React: the active forward/backward movement of the wire ensures stable and virtually spatter-free droplet transfer. Thin and sensitive materials in particular can be welded with reliable process stability.

How EWM React works
With EWM React, we’re pushing the physical limits of digitally controlled short arcs and increasing the range of what’s possible. Short circuits are recognised immediately and the reversing wire movement supports droplet detachment. The wire moves forward, the short circuit occurs and the wire is actively retracted (push/pull movement). This increases the range of the short arc and a higher deposition rate is possible at very high welding speeds with lower heat input.

The wire is actively moved toward the weld pool at high speed. The arc ignites on the molten metal and produces a molten droplet at the same time.

As a result of the active backward movement, the wire is drawn from the weld pool with high precision and the arc reignites.

Thanks to the combination of rapid current reduction by the RCC module and the controlled mechanical movement of the wire, EWM React enables spatter-free results with maximum process stability. Another advantage: as the heat input is so low and the resulting distortion so small, EWM React is particularly suitable for processing thin sheets and CrNi materials.

As a result of the active mechanical backward movement, the wire is drawn from the weld pool with high precision and the arc reignites.

The combination of the quick current reduction offered by the RCC module and the controlled mechanical wire movement allows spatter-free results with unbeatable process stability.
