Stage 1: Pre-filter
The pre-filter is made from a patented material used in respirators and face masks. It is the initial stage that the air is passed through and is designed to filter large dust particles right down to ultra fine sub-micron particles. Dust levels in the ambient air will affect how long the pre-filter will last. Pre-filters are white in colour and will turn grey fairly quickly within 1-2 weeks of use, this is nothing to be concerned about and simply means the filter is doing its job. We recommend checking the dust buildup on the pre-filter every 3 months of use. When the dust layer is appro-ximately 2 mm thick the pre-filter should be replaced. Pre-filters will typically last 3-6 months before needing to be replaced.
Stage 2: H13 Medical-Grade HEPA Filter
HEPA filters known as High-Efficiency Particulate Arrestance filters were originally developed to filter fine radioactive particles. A HEPA filter will filter with a minimum efficiency 99.95% of particles at 0.3 microns and 95% of particles at 0.1 microns. With 1 micron measuring just 1/10,000 of a centimetre and the smallest particle visible to the naked eye being 40 microns, 0.3 microns is many times smaller than dust mites, mould spores, pet allergens and pollens. HEPA filters are widely used in medical applications including: cleanrooms, pharmaceutical manufacturing and any environment where clean or sterile conditions are required.

The HEPA filter is designed to last 3 to 5 years under normal use. We recommend checking the dust build upon the filter every 3 months dust remove from vacuum cleaner. As with other filters, the environ-ment in which it is used will determine the filter life. The outside of the HEPA filter will change colour and turn dark grey when it needs changing. Generally, for the first two years of use the filter will remain white and then gradually get darker in the final months of its life. Please note, the inside of the HEPA filter will always remain white so it is important to check the outside of the filter which is visible when the pre-filter is being changed.
Stage 3: 6kg Activated Carbon Filter
Activated carbon traps gas molecules and any other chemicals that pass through it. Activated carbon has an immense surface area that allows an incredible amount of molecules to be adhered to the carbon. This means an air purifier with a larger activated carbon filter will be more efficient and will last longer before needing replacement.

The activated carbon filter adsorbs chemicals, gases and odours from the air and, depending on the environment, will last up to 3 years. Carbon filters should be changed when they are saturated, this means the filter has entirely filled up with what it has filtered from the air during use. You can tell when a carbon filter needs changing because the air coming out of the system will either be tainted with an odour of what it has adsorbed during use, or the air will simply stop smelling clean or smell stale.
6 simple steps to cleaner air
- Air is drawn into the system through the perforated side vents.
- Air then passes through the dust pre-filter and into the H13 medical-grade HEPA filter which removes allergens, viruses, bacteria and other sub-micron fine particle matter.
Chemicals and odours are also removed from the air by the final stage activated carbon filter.
- The high-efficiency centrifugal fan pulls the filtered air up into the top of the system.
- The purified air is then returned to the room via the high air-flow diffuser.
- Plastic-free chemical-free aluminium powder-coated construction.
- UV light air purifiers use ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI).
UV light air purifiers use ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI)-typically UV-C light-to deactivate airborne pathogens like viruses, bacteria, and mold spores as they pass through the device. The UV light damages the microorganisms’ DNA or RNA, preventing reproduction and killing them. It is an added sanitizing feature, usually paired with a HEPA filter to remove both live and killed particles from the air.
